What is Coaching?

Coaching is essentially having someone help you get “unstuck” through gaining new awareness and creating action steps to get you closer to your goals.  With ADHD Coaching, I help my clients (and sometimes the people around them) understand how their ADHD is impacting them through education and how to be successful moving forward together through clear communication and goal setting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the Coaching Process

01

How many sessions will coaching require?

This is very individualized but, as a rule, I ask that you give coaching at least six sessions for us to have time to get to know each other in order for you to start getting the most out of coaching.

02

How often do we meet?

This, again, is individualized but ideally weekly initially and once you feel like you are on track to building new awareness and getting into action, we can reduce to bi-monthly, monthly, or just on an as-needed basis.

03

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching meets you where you are presently and helps you to gain clarity and momentum to move towards your goals while therapy is more focused on dealing with things that have happened in the past and how to heal to be able to move forward.  If a coach senses mental health issues are present, they should suggest that their client seek therapy. Some clients find that being in therapy and coaching at the same time can be helpful.

FAQ

Your First Session: What to Expect

1

Fill out the contact form to schedule your free 30-minute discovery session.

"But, Stacy," you may say, "nothing in life is free." This is. Yep, 100% free.  When you click the link, it will gather some information from you to help me to see what you desire to get out of coaching.  It will take you to a calendar to schedule a 30-minute block that works best for you.

2

We meet.

We will meet at the time you have selected via Zoom.  During that meeting, we will both see if we feel we could work well together and if coaching seems like it would be beneficial for you. If you are making an appointment for a minor, you can decide if they should be present for the introductory call or not; it is entirely up to you.

3

You grow.

Once we have decided to work together, you will schedule a time that works to meet for our first session.  Because studies have revealed that real growth begins happening in the fifth or sixth session of weekly coaching, I encourage my clients to take advantage of the discount available in the 6-session package, but you can choose to pay as you go instead.  Once you start consistently reaching your goals, you may decide to start meeting every other week or even monthly depending on how you are feeling about your progress.

Values in Action

Knowing your character strengths and how they are being used (even overused or underused) in your life can help you to lead a fulfilling and enjoyable life.  According to the VIA Character strengths website, we have 24 character strengths and they are uniquely used by each individual.  When you share your VIA Strengths survey results with me, it enables me to use your unique strengths to coach you to your best life.
